The Reagan administration later supported the Khmer Rouge government in exile after it had been overthrown.
I think your sides' argument is disingenuous: For you, it's not about saving soldiers lives, it's about playing politics to make the president look bad. Moreover, if we did withdraw, don't you think there'd be a repeat of the holocaust that occurred in Viet Nam and Cambodia following our withdrawal there (which, by the way, your side precipitated patriotism. Just as the war resisters were wrong in Viet Nam, they're wrong about Iraq.
Opposing an unjust and terrible war is always right. Killing on a mass scale is going on now in Iraq; it's way past time to end our complicity in it.
