This is probably the best thing I have read about who the candidates are and how their early educational experiences shaped them. The interesting thing is that neither went to a public school:

Ban public schools and send the new generations to Mexican schools?

At least kids would learn how to handle a knife!

Yo, I just bought Faith of My Fathers by John McCain and will read it over the next several days or weeks. I am a bit disapointed that it is ghost-written by Mark Satler, however. Barack Obama wrote his own books, rather than hiring someone else. Maybe he's a lot smarter than McCain, though. Who knows?

He wasn't smart enough to select Hilary Clinton for his VP or predict that McCain would outchange him.

How is it that McCain is "out changing" him?

Well, he was against Bush's tax cuts.

Now he's changed.

He was against drilling in the continental shelf.

Now he's changed.

He wasn't in favor of a constitutional amendment overturning Roe v. Wade.

Now he's changed.

etc. etc. etc.

Abraham Lincoln and Andrew Johnson were largely self-taught; the majority of their successors attended public schools, according to the article. There's a pretty good graphic about this in the linked article.

All you need to know about these two men is contained in their choice for VP: McCain proved he is confident and gutsy by selecting the future (i.e. Sarah Palin). In contrast, Obama has admitted he is in over his head and he chose the past (i.e. Joe Biden) for his VP.

Judging by some of the passages in her interview with Charles Gibson, Palin is even less competent than anybody imagined. This flavor of the month will soon be forgotten.

Or you could interpret it that McCain is concerned that he can't make it up a flight of stairs so he needs a young and healthy VP that can assist his geriatric body.

You definitely have the neo-con playbook down of not answering questions and, instead, spinning some hyperbolic nonsense.
