It’s fascinating and scary how extreme the republicans have become, yet remain mainstream in US politics.
It’s truly baffling how the US’ politics still manage to influence European politics, albeit on the fringes nowadays.
In the Netherlands we have the Forum for democracy party. Very extreme right-wing. Many of their supporters admire the republican party and right-wing outlets which support it.
I work (God save me please) with 2 such people (only God knows how I ended up in this bloody situation) who constantly refer to Fox news, “alternative news sources” and Jordan Peterson as the facts that must be heard.
And they are always very surprised when people don’t connect with them on any level. This leads them to think (I kid you not) that they are smarter than everyone else and “in the know”.
It’s really unhinged.
Seriously. An adult man, university educated, union representative, in the worker’s council… with very anti-communist sentiments.
It’s like there’s a break in reality vs bubble of information or something.

I have them in my own family. Total Trumpheads and no talking to them about it either. We do have some libs on our side however🙂
