Many psychologists and historians have tried to understand why the German public were so accepting of murdering millions of Jews, blacks, mentally ill and others during WW2. The German people were some of the most educated and intellectual people in the entire world at the time and the conventional thinking nowadays is that the way to end discrimination and racism is through education. So how could the german people be cheering for the death of these people??
Well, it turns out that education does not replace one key, ugly truth about humans. Rosseau had tried to argue that people were inherently "good" and it was society that made us do evil things. But Hobbes argued, correctly, that humans, at our core, are actually evil and all it takes to bring out that evil is for something (or someone in Hitler's case) to stir up our selfish narcissistic core and we will instantly excuse all forms of violence and killings.
Today, we see this evil in humans manifesting itself every time someone in the news is killed. "GOOD" is usually the phrase you hear people utter who are on the other side of the political divide of the person who was killed. Just look at recent headlines....
The lefties cheer when a health care CEO is murdered.
The lefties cheer when Trumper is almost assassinated on live Tv
The righties cheer when a mentally ill dude is choked out in a subway and dies.
Shameful. Might as well start hanging people in the town square so the masses can cheer it on!

@uzless saidAmericans hate the mentally ill with a white-hot, flaming passion.
why the German public were so accepting of murdering mentally ill
If an American sees someone who is mentally ill, they have been trained to think 'Drug abuser! They did this to themselves. Let them rot in hell..."
Ronald Reagan closed the state hospitals for the mentally ill in the 1980's because they were, in the end, pretty abusive and horrible. But in the grand tradition of ALL GOPer's, he did it "having only the concept of a plan." Ever heard that one before?
Since the plan was incomplete, mentally ill people were shoved out onto the street, where they live to this day, as America's homeless population (~512,000)
It makes perfect sense why America has more mentally ill people running around on the streets than any other nation in the world when you consider our for-profit healthcare model.
In America, you essentially only get health insurance if you work, through your employer. But when a young person between 20-40 gets hit with schizophrenia or bipolar or whatever, they usually no longer work. It's totally different from someone who gets diabetes or autoimmune disease or cancer. All those people go on working.
But people with mental illness usually lose coverage. Without coverage, they can't afford meds. Without meds, their families cannot handle them, so they push them out. On the street, their inner demons (losing control of part of your mind is a lot like being possessed by a demon, so people say) torture them into doing and saying all kinds of crazy things, some of which other people deem threatening.
So they are arrested, taken to the emergency room, discharged to an inpatient clinic where they get on meds which "control" their behavior for two weeks. After which they are discharged, maybe with a 30 day supply of a drug that they cannot afford. They wander off, barely able to turn their heads due to the side effects of the medication, drooling, basically zombies. After awhile the chemical straightjacket wears off and they "wake up" and get agitated again.
Wash, rinse, repeat.
Jorden Neely was arrested 42 times prior? Ooof. Did anybody ever think to ask, 'Maybe what we are doing here is not working?' Apparently not...
But America is "offended". So much so that Americans cheer when one of these unfortunates is choked to death on a subway by a passer-by. Nice.
@uzless saidGood grief man.

What you are describing are the consequences of polarisation.
People aren’t inherently good or evil. They are led down a path. And once in rabbit holes they are easily manipulated.
Take this CEO chap.
“Left wingers glad he’s dead”
Really. Peel the onion.
Oh, the man had parents. Who changed his diapers, helped him with his homework, hugged him when he fell.
His brothers and sisters. He helped them when they were lonely teenagers.
And his children. He cared for them.
He wanted the best for them. He got on well at work and yes, maybe some of his actions or choices are unforgivable, but his children loved him when he pushed them on the swings; when he held them tight when their relationships fell apart.
He took his wife on a sad drive when they had a miscarriage and loved her dearly, comforting her…
And his being shot ripped a void in all these people’s lives. Everybody torn to shreds, just because someone disagreed with the man.
How far down said rabbit hole does one have to be to condone such an action? And how did one get there?
And more importantly: who’s exploiting the situation (hint: various parties) and who’s benefiting?
And the solution is taking a step back and realising that each Jew, Moslim, Christian, atheist, and even nazi, is a kid and a parent; someone with a whole history of living. And that life choices lead to rabbit holes and polarisation.
And it is up to us (in reality, not on this forum, as my usual cynicism will show) to de-polarise, show mercy and be graceful.
How else can you draw someone back to morality?
Certainly not by shooting them. That only leads to further pain, suffering and polarisation.

Severe economic woe, due to crushing reparations imposed on Germany by allied powers after WWI.
A ready-made scapegoat for Germany’s woes, namely ‘aliens’, who were extraordinarily well integrated into German society, but unfortunately easily identified by religious affiliation.of course, they did not cause Germany’s woes, but see the following point…
A ruthless twisting of news and propagation of counter-factual fake news by a highly effective propaganda minister. This was coupled with relentless appeals to patriotism, nationalism, and xenophobia, dubiously supported by pseudo-science.
The orchestration of a ‘crisis’ to legitimate the imposition of “emergency powers” under which Hitler ruled, without legal restraints, for the remainder of his time in office.
The intimidation, imprisonment, and elimination of dissenters and opposition parties, and the weaponization of justice to this end.
Interestingly enough, American psychologists who tested and studied high ranking Nazi officials at the end of the war determined that they were not insane or in any way out of the ordinary, apart from the fact of having allowed themselves to be bamboozled by a toxic narrative from a charismatic demagogue.

@spruce112358 saidTry to get some understanding. It will stop you from posting such garbage over and over. Syria made no such step to establishing democracy. That is a lie ... you damn fool. Another ruthless Islamic group took over from Asaad, who is worse than Asaad, and more militant. This man is now going to have access to chemical weapons and military hardware, which he plans to use against Israel and other countries around him. Why are you so damn stupid.
