The post that was quoted here has been removedAfraid of losing face and obsessed with never conceding error, the USA might well invade Venezuela in order to set up a client (or puppet) regime there.
This is highly unlikely. Personally I think Donald Trump is an idiot, but I agree with his policy of drawing down some of our troops overseas, and insisting other countries take more responsibility for their own security and internal affairs. If anything, Trump may approve some covert weakening of the present Venezuelan government via the CIA, but Trump is not likely to approve sending American combat troops into what promises to be a long and expensive military campaign, simply to install a friendly government in a country that most Americans don't view as very important.
The post that was quoted here has been removedWell - Predicting any impending invasion of Venezuela by the US would be much like predicting next year's weather. It's rather depressing when I think the 2 major decision makers in this issue of military action (Trump and Boulton) are both draft dodging cowards, one who used fake medical records to escape military service, the other jumped into the national guard to avoid active duty service in Viet Nam.
