PRO
Raising children too easy without additional stakes
Gives bipartisan congressional leadership something to ignore together
Great fundraising material
Can convert child’s bedroom into exercise room sooner than expected
Less fodder for pedophiles
Way, way easier than trying to not let children die
CON
Waste of a good tax break
Could hurt the football program
Fewer family members to protect with guns
Might sometimes also lose a good kid
Probably bad for economy somehow
No way to watch grandchildren die someday
Add to the list. In what ways are children living less important than NRA and the gun manufacturers' money

'Xactly!!
It surely looks better to have 65 million killed (China), or 30 million killed (Russia) or 6 million and 2 million killed in Germany and Cambodia respectively.
Cops don't have to die saving children's lives. Heroes die young.
Here is the thing that gets me. If the psychopath was barricaded in a room and wasn't shooting children as the cops claimed they believed, why not go in to evacuate any children that may be inside? They have tools to break in. They didn't have to wait for a key.
Who is the idiot that ordered his underlings to stand down?
All very well to state things like this in hind sight.
I’m not exactly sure what happened, but if the premise is that an armed man has barricaded himself in a classroom (so is no longer shooting people), then why on Earth take the risk instead of waiting for an assault team?
That would be just risking more lives.
If the man was still shooting kids, then it’s a different story. But even then, if he’s got an assault gun and you’ve got a wee pistol, you’re gonna have to weigh up the options and proceed very bloody carefully (otherwise you’re just gonna be another corpse on the heap or, even worse, killing civilians in a cross-fire).
It’s very easy to be an armchair hero. In my experience, real, life threatening situations tend to get heroes killed or wounded. And that leads to a tendency of caution.

Police chief Pete Arredondo reportedly told officers not to breach.
I'm sure he is getting hate mail. I would not want to be him.

The cops were tazing parents so they could not save their children. Someone lied at a press conference saying their were no armed cops there and there were. Unbelievable!

@metal-brain saidWell, since he’s murdered people, one presumes the man needs arresting. And since he’s armed to the teeth behind a defensive structure, one might consider various approaches. And an assualt team is one of them.

@mott-the-hoople saidSpoken like a true retard. Or someone who’s never been in a gun fight.
