Ayatollah Khamenei is being quoted often in the news media, but the quote is not accurate most of the time. I once heard that the literal translation was not being accurately reported. What were his exact words and was it being translated fairly?
I heard that he didn't really call for the destruction of Israel and it was more like erase from the map of history. Something can end without being destroyed. The USSR for example. The USSR ended, but it was not destroyed.
What did he really say? And was it translated properly without prejudice?

“Wiping out Israel means that the Palestinian people, including Muslims, Christians and Jews, should be able to determine their fate and get rid of thugs such as [Prime Minister Benjamin] Netanyahu,” Khamenei continued, according to Iranian media.
