But, who Else would have bought up the treasury bonds? Rene Good? The guy that owns the local carpet installation business?.
You imply that they should NOT have bought the bonds, a very healthy economic process. The buyers of the bonds are Lending Money to the government. The government says thank you very much.
So what would be our economic situation if those dollars had not flowed in from the billionaires that bought the bonds.

No, buying the bonds is fine. Obviously if the government can't find itself it needs the money.

But the only reason it needs to money is because government gave it to the rich people. It's the Republicans fault.

It's a 10 X exaggeration. https://www.reuters.com/fact-check/no-evidence-us-spent-50-million-condoms-gaza-2025-01-30/
Plus the spending probably saved tens of thousands or more lives so it was hardly "wasteful".
Saved lives???!?. I am fairly certain that you are in favor of abortions. Your chewed up pillows must be a mess.

Lol wrong number.

Trump inherited a $400 billion deficit number from Obama and tripled it even before COVID hit. Biden inherited a $3 trillion dollar deficit from trump and got it down to under $800 billion before leaving office. Now it's back up, because of Trump.

One of the tricks of liberals is to jump ahead of an issue. I have made it clear that buying bonds is a very healthy thing. But then you jump into the reason they borrow money, which has nothing to do with this issue.

So looking back at your upper post, you put a negative spin on the rich people that buy bonds. Please correct yourself and say that rich people buying bonds is a great idea. Then, for some reason you mentioned Republicans. The Republicans had nothing to do with this issue. This is a common governmental practice open to all comers,a really weird observation on your part.
So that has been settled, we can move along from there. One of my jobs as monitor on the forum is to get everyone in line. I appreciate your attention.

Maybe it's news to you, but people have sex. In many parts of the world, there are outbreaks of deadly sexually transmitted diseases which the use of condoms is useful in reducing the spread of.

$60 million is a pittance compared to the benefits obtained.

Joe's safe, he only has sex with himself. Ergo he is just a big jerk off.

I'm not defending the Biden debt numbers. The first year he was president was brutal. He could have done more but to leave with a number under a trillion was pretty good work. It was headed in the right direction when he left and before trump exploded it (again).

They're all bad. But trump in 2016 was really bad. He inherited a $400 billion deficit that Obama had spent the whole decade whittling down year by year. If trump did nothing his debt number in 4 years would have been a little over $1.5 trillion. The much higher numbers reflect what he did wrong.

Yeah, but $1 million here and a million there , and then throw in paying tuition and such, can mount up to billions of dollars. Like if you add up the millions and millions, it adds up to billions and billions….. why do you have to say that,,, it’s a given.
The liberal mind at work. Yeah nothing wrong with a few million here and there.? Jeesus
Sure it adds up to a lot, obviously.

No Republican president in my lifetime has even pretended to care about reducing deficits. Just like mott, They'll point to a million dollar problem to fix and it's just distracting from a billion dollar problem they just created.

Deploying the national guard in DC cost taxpayers half a billion dollars. They spent 3 months picking up trash. If trump wants to spend that money, why isn't he asking taxpayers for it???? Surely if they think it's a good use of money they will pay higher taxes, right?

$1.8 trillion is waaaaay to much deficit spending, especially considering how much lower it was when Biden left office a year ago. Pitiful.

I know we got a lot going on with the whole fascism thing. But...

The rich are stealing your tax dollars. When the last Trump administration passed their giant tax cut, most of it went to wealthy Americans. Now you say, well, it's because those are the folks who PAY the taxes. That's fair to a point, but this misses the fact that the government was massively in debt at t ...[text shortened]... y taxes this year.

One can only wonder if the taxes paid actually benefit the goals they proclaim to finance, or if they’re fixed to the lobby grouls who seem to benefit.

A huge chunk of the Biden number is from 2021 and trying to undo Trump's mess. He also did a poor job, but the republican presidents always, always move the deficit number in the wrong direction.

Always.

Oh, y'all are speaking of a perfect government. That would take a separate thread, I would think. Such govts are hard to come by. Why, whataboutisms all over the place. You should watch what is coming with Mamdani, he is already seeing what we all already saw, a Nightmare for NYC.
Blaming the previous mayor, who left $8B in reserve account of NYC. Yeah, when it hits the fan, great entertainment. At least we will get away from Jan 6 and epstein!!! Oh, and the Good and Pressy persons, suicide by ICE.
