It was asked why Pallin wants to hunt.
I ask why would anyone want to hunt. I ask for pros and cons.
Hunters say it is a sport. I argue that in sports there has to be fair-play. Where is the fairplay in shooting a bear with a scope rifle from 500m away. Where is the sport in shooting a defenseless bird?
In my view hunting is useless. But if you HAVE to hunt, here are some suggestions to make the sport a bit more fair.
1. Hunting should only be done for food. To ensure it is only done for food, hunters must go on hunting trips and not be allowed to pack ANY food from home. You eat what you are able to kill.
2. Hunting rifles must be banned. Hunting firearms must be banned. You don't get to kill with a bazooka from hundreds of yards away. You are allowed a bow and/or a spear. Not a fancy modern bow, but a english medieval longbow at most.
3. Large predatorial game must be hunted with a knife and one on one. You don't get to sniper a bear with a scope from safety and then brag how brave you are for shooting a bear. You must go and face the bear alone, with a knife or a spear.
4. You don't get to kill anything else until you prove you have eaten the previous kill.
Add to the above rules or argue why hunting is good the way it is.

How come both the Democrats' presidential and VP picks are both lawyers?

on a side note, did you attempt in anyway to reply on topic or is your post a subtle suggestion that you don't care about hunting at all or you approve of yahoo's shooting animals and calling themselves gentlemen?

Ah, heaven bless lawyers! 😏
Humans must embrace their place in the food chain. We are born hunters, although there is no hunting need or opportunity in the urbanized part of the world.
Hunting wild animals is the woods is not sport because of some sort of equality between hunter and hunted in the capacity for killing the other. It is sport because humans are at a significant disadvantage in our sensory capacities to locate game, and in our physical capacities to pursue. High powered rifles with scopes increase the chances of human success, but do not assure it. They also facilitate a humane kill with minimal suffering on the part of the prey.
Bow hunters must work harder to get close to the quarry, so perhaps that might be something closer to what you wish to promote.
I fish for sport and release most of what I catch. The sport comes in trying to think like a creature with a brain no bigger than my fingernail. In this effort, I learn how to appreciate as tasty the many tiny bugs that live in aquatic ecosystems. I learn to use the feathers from dead roosters, hair form deceased deer, elk, rabbit, and bear, and many other animal products to fool fish into seeing not a fraud wrapped on fine Japanese steel, but a genuine tasty insect. When successful at fooling a trout, it tries all sorts of maneuvers to get off mu hook, while I try to bring it close.
Most off the time I do not take it out of the water, but release it unharmed--a slack line once the fish has been brought to the boat will usually free the creature. If the fish has swallowed the hook and is bleeding, and it is legal to retain it--in my state many streams and lakes have special regulations--then I kill and eat the prey.
I disagree with Democrats that persecute hunters and fishers because they think their urban lifestyles are somehow good and normal. Gut-toting Republicans that do not stand up in defense of wild places--including and perhaps especially the ANWR--are hypocrites.
