The Trump Warrant Had No Legal Basis - WSJ Op Ed

Debates

A former president’s rights under the Presidential Records Act trump the statutes the FBI cited to justify the Mar-a-Lago raid.

Was the Federal Bureau of Investigation justified in searching Donald Trump’s residence at Mar-a-Lago? The judge who issued the warrant for Mar-a-Lago has signaled that he is likely to release a redacted version of the affidavit supporting it. But the warrant itself suggests the answer is likely no—the FBI had no legally valid cause for the raid.

But didn't we already know that the FBI cannot be trusted?

Taking the word of some opinionated nobody because they agree with you?

A new low.

Maybe be we should remove some of the secrecy, lack of accountability, legal protections, and sweetheart treatment given to law enforcement officials who break rules. Overhaul how policing is conducted so private citizens like trump and breonna Taylor don't get their homes raided without warning. At least in trump's case they didn't fire guns in random directions. Phew.

Talk to BLM.

What the bleep do you even mean, "... agree with you"??
I have never said in here that I suspected that the search warrant was bogus. This is all new to me.

"A new low." - well Suzie, lying is not new for you and has not been for a long long time.

Maybe, but I think that too many Americans think that law enforcement gets the benefit of the doubt, almost always.

I wonder if the FBI contacted the National Archives and told them the FBI was going to raid Trump. Hmmm... still a lot to learn here.

Not surprising, numbnuts. You still think my name is Joe.

Uh. If there is a warrant, the FBI have a valid reason for acting upon the warrant.

Seriously dude, crawl out of that rabbit hole. We're sick of hearing you talk through your arse.

Are you really comparing Trump, a white man of privilege, and Breonna Taylor?

This statement makes no sense. The FBI legally obtained a warrant and you claim they can't be trusted?

C'mon vivify, the FBI greatly deceived the FISA court when they went there to get a warrant to spy on Trump.
And that was when he was citizen Trump, and also into the first few months of his presidency.

The FBI sucks.

You can't make empty claims like that. You constantly ask me to "prove" everything I say, yet here you are making a serious accusation without one shred of evidence.

How exactly did the FBI "deceive" the court?
