Now Donald Trump said Sunday that special counsel Robert Mueller should not testify before Congress, abandoning his previous declaration that he would leave that decision to his attorney general.

The People should be entitled to know what conflicts of interests the financial dealings of an individual might have on his policy choices while in their service at the White House.
Even if the public doesn't see it, a law requires the returns to be handed over to certain Congressional Committees if they request it:
(f) Disclosure to Committees of Congress
(1) Committee on Ways and Means, Committee on Finance, and Joint Committee on Taxation
Upon written request from the chairman of the Committee on Ways and Means of the House of Representatives, the chairman of the Committee on Finance of the Senate, or the chairman of the Joint Committee on Taxation, the Secretary shall furnish such committee with any return or return information specified in such request, except that any return or return information which can be associated with, or otherwise identify, directly or indirectly, a particular taxpayer shall be furnished to such committee only when sitting in closed executive session unless such taxpayer otherwise consents in writing to such disclosure.

So we have two of Trump's Cabinet in violation of the law today in order to obstruct Congressional oversight: Barr for refusing to hand over subpoenaed materials uncovered in the Mueller investigation and the full Report itself and Mnuchin for refusing to turn the Donald's tax returns over even though the law requires it.
