GENEVA (Reuters) - U.N. human rights experts said on Tuesday that Israel’s plan to annex significant parts of the occupied West Bank would violate international law banning the taking of territory by force, and urged other countries to actively oppose it.
Really!?
I think Israel publicly made their intentions clear long ago, and US President,
Donald Trump gave Israel America's blessing for this CRIME.
You, go, UN! {slackjaws}

@Earl-of-Trumps
I was not aware that the US even had a foreign policy any more.
Also, I read that many gulf Arab states have become more cordial with Israel recently, in opposition to Iran. I wonder if they approve of this annexation, and what's in it for them.
Strange that Israel decided to convert sympathy and pity post-Holocaust into something other than moral authority.
@caesar-salad
Please do not ever conflate the attitudes and spoken words of other
governments of the region with that of the people of same.
The Saudi *people* will never tolerate Israel yet their leader will.
Same with Egypt. And, of course, America has a lot to do with how
Neighboring government act towards Israel.
Regardless, the crimes of such inhumane and encompassing levels have to be addressed.
@earl-of-trumps said@Earl, you make valid points, but I did only mention states and not their citizenries.

@caesar-salad saidYes, specifically the United Arab Emirates. They have always been very Western.

But in the eyes of the law, it really should not matter who "looks the other way".
Breaking the law is breaking the law, and no country should be above that (in theory)
@earl-of-trumps saidYou do know the UN has opposed every step annexation since 1948, don’t you?

And it’s only the US constantly vetoing action in the security council that lets Israel get its way.
@shavixmir saidANTI-SEMITE!
You do know the UN has opposed every step annexation since 1948, don’t you?

@shavixmir saidI am well and painfully aware.

One of these days, the US will be pushed off the security council.
@earl-of-trumps saidHow?
One of these days, the US will be pushed off the security council.
None of the permanent members can be pushed off.
You would have to disband the UN.
Coincidentally I was watching a documentary about the 6 day war just the
other day. Due to my own wanton ignorance (beat you to it D64!) I had
not known that Israel started the war with a preemptive strike on Egyptian
airfields followed by attacks on Jordan, Syria and Iraq. Brilliant military tactics,
but acquiring all that land by invasion is obviously against everything the UN
stands for. Can you imagine if say Iraq invaded Kuwait what would happen?
@wolfgang59 saidHow about if they make up a new rule, pick the US up physically, and toss them!
How?

The UN is highly funded by the US. So that will put a stop to that happening, sadly.
@wolfgang59 saidThe UN did pass a resolution telling Israel to get out of the occupied lands.

Israel laughed. They knew the fix was in (US) and no action would ever be taken by a coalition of UN forces, as what happened with Iraq's invasion of Kuwait.
To this day, Israel illegally occupies Golan Heights (Syria), Shebra Farms (Lebanon), and almost all of Mandated Palestine.
And Americans are wondering why the ME is shaping up to be the theater of WWIII.
There is (or was) a populist right-wing American slogan:
"Get the US out of the UN and the UN out of the US!"
Seeing as though the US is a corrupt cop, I couldn't agree more.
It really is the fault of the bought-and-paid-for politicians, not the people,
who if they knew the truth, would likely have a bit of an insurrection.
The USA has sometimes threatened to withhold funding from UN agencies
unless the UN becomes more pro-Israeli.
The US is all about bullying when it comes to the better interests of Israel, nothing new here.
I found it remarkable that the USA failed to stand up even for its own interests against
Israel (or the Israeli lobby) when Israel attacked the USS Liberty, killing 34 Americans.
You and a million p!ssed off Americans that call a spade, a spade,
and don't put their head in the sand over a difficult issue.
My theory: A joint US-Israeli false flag gone bad that was supposed see Syria blamed.
