How will the economic situation change in the near future? Will Obama be able to make a difference?

My guess is the more anyone tries to fix it, the longer it will take the economy to recover. The nimrods in DC will do whatever it takes to get re-elected and could care less how that effects the US citizen, or world citizen for that matter. I fear Obama will try to make a difference.

It's hard to seperate market-driven economic recovery from government-driven economic recovery. So who knows?

The US economy will improve in time. I think we'll see a modest uptick in the fall of 09. That said, Bush and Co. left things in terrible shape. Could be 3-5 years before most of the damage is repaired. 😏

How bad would the situation be if people would been more responsible with their own finances? Maxed out credit cards, big houses, new cars, flat screen TVs etc... The government is only part of the problem.

The key is for the government to spend as much money as possible. In fact, Obama has been taking lessons from "W" on how to do so.

Good point. Maybe if American's spent more responsibly, they could teach the government folks to do the same. 😏

Dare to dream. Responsible citizens are not rewarded and at times punished for success. Over spenders and underachievers are rewarded at every turn. Currently, the government has plans to give 100 billion towards 'helping' folks who bought more house than they could afford. Where as the ones who bought within their means and paid on time...

...get nothing.

Sadly, I don't see the cycle ending anytime soon.

Why should they? I don't agree, necessarily, with publicly-funded assistance for people who have overextended themselves with mortgages or whatever, but to put it in these terms is kind of whiny.

I might be whiny 🙂 But to be honest, I didn't behave responsibly to get something from the government. It just seems backwards the way this is all getting handled.
