I'm thinking I might as well move to Hong Kong or even Mainland China.

Or could this be some kind of crazy deal that Trump has struck with Xi -- to drive Trump's non-supporters from a crazy and unpredictable autocracy to a somewhat more principled and considerate one?

At this stage of the game, I'm willing to learn "this is how we do things in China."

China has a lot to be proud of, at a time when the USA has been embarrassing itself -- because of the doofus at the top and every coward and power-seeker who enables him.

China is not kind to homosexuals. You might want to check that. If you are gay, as you claim, then somewhere in Europe or North America is the best place. The rest of the world still follow traditional values. China originally had homosexuality classified as a mental illness. [Same they did with Islam]. There are no gay rights and no legal protection from what gays in America call 'persecution'. You are free to live a a gay person, but there is no marriage, no adoption of kids etc.

Which country doesn't have forced labor?

TBH, one of the drawbacks from my POV would be the all-night LED light shows in the newer, high-tech cities.
