How sad has this America become. My God, isn't anything sacred, not even Dilbert?

"Critics are complaining that “Dave,” the new black character in the Dilbert cartoon strip, is “anti-trans” because he “identifies” as white."
-- and this explains a lot about influencers:
Scott Adams, the creator of Dilbert, had previously explained on his daily broadcast and on Twitter that he had not included a black character in the comic strip before because every character must have a personality flaw, and he feared being accused of racism.
Also...
Ultimately, Adams decided to introduce a character whose one “flaw” was that he identifies as white — and that it would be unclear, both to readers and to fellow characters, whether he was serious, or whether he was simply mocking management.
“Dave” appeared this week for the first time, but was blocked by a major newspaper group, which refused to run the strip:
So there ya go. Dave shows up and a bunch people go "racist", and Dilbert gets shut off

@earl-of-trumps saidThere is something fundamentally wonky about America, where geeks and nerds can be stereo-typified and mocked in a comic strip, and believe me I've known people just like Dilbert and Wally all my professional life, but a cartoonist is afraid to stereo-typify a Black or Indian. If this goes on, we won't even be able to put on productions of Othello any Moor.

which leaned left, got flak from Conservatives.
Many papers dropped Gary Trudeau's comic strip,
and many others moved, DOONESBURY, to the editorial page.
@moonbus saidIt's the same for any oppressed group, like women. We can mock Trump's hair all we want, Jon Stewart can make fun Mitch McConnell's neck waddle, etc...but those same people mock a woman's looks and all hell breaks loose.

Given what women have and continue to go through, that's understandable. Same for any other oppressed group.
@earl-of-trumps saidYeah, that's extreme. I doubt anyone who's actually black gives a damn.

@shavixmir saidPointing out flaws can be done well or poorly, with sympathy or derision. Some humor is in poor taste. Mocking people who are ill, for example, is in poor taste. I'm not in favour of censoring bad taste, but someone should have vetted Rock's proposed routine at the Oscars and told him to leave out the jibe about Smith's wife because he obviously did not look at it objectively enough to recognise that it went over a line. A celebrity roast is a different context, people expect to be jibed there, but not at the Oscars.
The whole point of humor is to point out our flaws and mock us. It should never be censored.
Mocking people on the autism spectrum is also in poor taste, though, I grant, BigBangTheory is often quite funny -- it's done in a way that showcases how people on the spectrum cope in their own peculiar ways without demeaning them. There was also a Netflix series, Atypical, in which people on the spectrum were portrayed in a sympathetic light in humorous situations.
@moonbus saidYou mean Rocks complimentary "joke" that started with, I love you guys? Fair enough.

@athousandyoung saidThe trannies are faux upset jut so as to bring attention to themselves as the innocent victims being kicked.
It's not Blacks who are upset it's the Trannies
Dave had absolutely nothing to do with trans *anything*.
@moonbus saidYou can’t judge humor like that.

There is absolutely no reason not to mock the sick, dying or mentally disturbed.
Everyone is fair game.
There is basically one rule: it shouldn’t be malicious; it shouldn’t make you look better, at the expense of the target.
And there is an exception to this rule: people in power. They’re fair game no matter what.
I don’t see the problem.
An example:
I can crack a racist joke. A racist can’t.
A racist can crack a racist joke about Obama.
