Things I can do to change the world

Debates

The following is a tiny list of a few small things I can do to make a difference. Please feel free to add to this list - maybe some of us can come up with some really good ideas.

TALKING/LISTENING

First of all I will listen to my opposition. If the person speaking to me knows that I am listening to them then they will be obliged to give me fair time as well.
I will discover the points of my opponents argument which I agree with and tell my opposition that I agree with certain things he says. I will give examples as to why I agree with him.
I will close my mouth so that my opponent can then counter my points.
I will know at all times that I can't change someone elses mind.
I will know that I could be wrong and that my opponent could be right.

ACTIONS/REACTIONS

I will:
Drive safer. I will be cautious and curteous to the other people on the road. I will let people pass me even if they are speeding. I will not flip people off, scream, yell or tail gate when someone on the road makes a poor decision. I will not be in a hurry.

Educate myself. I will always be open to the possibility of learning something new. I will not be afraid of understanding science or religion or a foreign culture because my own beliefs are too set in their ways for me to believe there are other ways to see the world and myself.

Here is my formula for making a difference in the world:

I wake up every morning and declare: I am not a victim. l can also work at my full-time job and be successful and happy without any help from the government.

Put more effort into ensuring that a good education is available to all.

Better education = higher output + better decisions = benefit to all.

Good post Turtlestack.

While I am an advocate of political activism, I also believe that every human being has it in them to make a difference. Just by doing simple things like the kindness and respect that we show to others, by being true to ourselves, and by having the courage and determination to fight for our own dreams, we can influence and inspire other people. There are always choices in life. And the choices that we make can affect how happy or sad, optimistic or pessimistic, other people may be.

Always try to look for the good in people. Not only will this result in you treating those people more kindly, but will also make you feel happier about the world you live in.

Developing this habit will also give you more ability in seeing the good in yourself.

This is what I tell myself. Do you agree?

Ya gotta think about it .. getting rid of those slugs would take a lot of stress off the whole damn population.

I think most of 'em are Euros anyway so they don't matter much.
