Who elected the people at the EPA? Where does their "authority" come from? A bureau the american people have no control over is now going to regulate industry.

It is my guess that one day members of Congress need not even show up for work.
So just to clarify here, the first six responders are okay with agencies acting unilaterally without the approval of congress? Suppose the TSA decided everyone named Mohammed or any variant thereof should receive extra screening at airports?
As a sidenote, it's funny to me that the people who are okay with this are the same ones complaining about the rich getting richer. Who do you think these rules will hurt the most? The utility companies will pass the cost right on down the line.
Originally posted by dryhumpDo you really think every single government employee should be elected? Or what exactly do you mean by "approval of Congress"? Doesn't Congress already have the authority to cease most government activity?

Originally posted by KazetNagorraOf course not. We're not talking about a park ranger, this is a whole agency. They have the power (as no1 pointed out) to act without the approval of congress. Essentially, they can pass laws without going through the normal process. To be honest, I don't know whether congress could overrule the EPA or not.

Originally posted by dryhumpI think you will find that in the eyes of those who have posted thus far, the federal government is not capable of any wrong......unless they are a Republican.
