The Dow Jones Industrial Average gained 572 points, or 1.2%, hitting a new all-time high. The S&P 500 rose 0.6%, while the Nasdaq Composite climbed 0.7%.
Energy stocks led the early gains on the notion the companies would benefit from rebuilding Venezuela's oil infrastructure. Gold and bitcoin prices gained.
I will report thru the year to everyone on The Trump Train. Saw this on the news.
@AverageJoe1 saidSo, illegal oil grabs by a more powerful country pays off. Is that your point? - What message do you think this sends to Russia or China?

@Ghost-of-a-Duke saidThe glib comments of you liberals with your total disingenuous attitudes becomes tiresome. You are fully well aware that Chavez confiscated the oil rights. Trump likes to use the word stole. Sounds about right to me, so will you please acknowledge that before you write these insipid posts?

Secondly, you libs are so naïve , as you think this is just a one-off arrest, re drug and oil problem,
. This is a global move by Trump with about 20 different irons in the fire about leadership all over the world, and of course, he smiles as he proves to China and Russia, who he is not scared of, that they see how powerful he is, and they will respect him. Oh there is that word respect… You liberals did not even know what respect means.
Trump is respected big time. He represents you. Go to the beach get some sun.

You get no brownie points for using that power to bully weaker countries, while throwing international law out of the window.
@Ghost-of-a-Duke saidBully. Keep it simple. Did Trump bully Venezuela? You people just throw suggestions out to see if it sticks.. Your post does not stick. Geez.
America has always been a powerful country.
You get no brownie points for using that power to bully weaker countries, while throwing international law out of the window.
And the word bully, I have never heard a grown up (non-fairy, cpnservative) use that word. what other word could you use to explain your post? And how else could we have gotten rid of Maduro without force- in-perfection? Written him a letter?. All of the posts of you fellers are quite flat.
@Ghost-of-a-Duke saidDude, Trump is certainly nuts and whether he was justified in raiding and capturing Maduro is highly questionable, but let's not pretend that this was merely an "illegal oil grab."

Maduro was an illegitimate leader who cooked an election, wrecked his country's economy, oppressed his own people, and was very likely at least involved in the drug trade.
I'm not saying Trump was justified, but there is some justification for the raid/arrest aside from it being an oil grab.
@sh76 saidWhat we will find out as 'justified' are what he is really up to,,,,,,probably 20 or 30 irons in the fire.

We are all set for some surprises. A true genous. And, no, Hitler was not a genius.
@sh76 saidRyan MacBeth thinks it was because Venezuela is potentially in range of the US refineries in Texas if they use Chinese missiles

@sh76 saidI don't really know much about the back story to Venezuela, and Maduro may very well be an illegitimate leader who cooked an election and wrecked his country's economy. None of that though remotely justifies the recent actions by America, violating international law.

And the 'oil grab' is based on Trumps own words:
“We’re going to be taking out a tremendous amount of wealth out of the ground."
The money made, he said, would go not only to the people of Venezuela, but also to American oil companies and “to the United States of America in the form of reimbursement for the damages caused us by that country.”
Hat tip for the 'dude.'
@sh76 saidThese people are always on the side of evil. Imagine supporting Chavez and Maduro ... shameless.
