I myself was handed a three-year forum ban (eventually commuted) for making the "wrong" kind of jokes about the Rainbow/Alphabet People, despite being a gay man in my 60s at the time, who had lived through times and experiences that some of the youngsters are only now beginning to understand in retrospect -- and maybe also for having independent and divergent views from what certain totalitarians in that arbitrarily aggregated demographic wanted to promote and impose.
I'm completely in favor of people of all gender identities, romantic orientations, and sexual orientations participating here and living their full lives in society in general.
What I don't get is the counter-intuitive totalitarianism and CorrectThought demonstrated and imposed by some academics and some activists for the sake of achieving a more ideal and convivial society.

The attitude of you’re either with me or you are wrong.
People hanging their whole identity up on a political movement, a job or sexual orientation / gender.
In that climate, when one speaks nuanced about a subject, the “in-crowd” see it as betrayal, rather than an expansion of ideas.
