@Rajk999 saidYou wrote that Milai balanced the budget. If that is the case, no need to be despratae.
Nothing is wrong with being desperate if you need help. I really dont understand what youare getting at.
The problem I see especially at this forum is that a very high degree of black and white is applied. So people are loath to see that their heroes make mistakes (and they do). All that fails is the fault of the "others" and their lables.
To the topic: Milei is responsible for a lot of reform, some of which will be lauded by the historians in a few decades and some will be seen as not helpful. That is quite normal.
But to claim that he did balance the budget and thus needs financial help is a contradictio in eo ipso.
@Ponderable saidWrong. A balanced budged simply means that Income = Expenditure. It does not mean he does not need financial help. All this discussion because you do not understand what a balanced budget means.

What heroes? I never knew anything about Argentina's politics and economy until Maruader brought it up.
@no1marauder saidTrump probably wants a golf course/resort there.
A country's most valuable natural resource is its People. Right wingers are contemptuous of the workers who make economic prosperity possible and rely on a top down economic approach that never works. Austerity budgets which increase unemployment only exacerbate such difficulties; a consumer based economy with strong social welfare protections is the only established w ...[text shortened]... capitalist economy can work.
Foreign bailouts for failed policies are a waste of time and money.
@Ponderable saidI get your point. The article stated that in the first year, 2023 Argentina had a balanced budget. That means all debts were serviced and govt spending was in balance. This caused hardship obviously for many. Argentina needed help after than and IMF and Trump decided to help.
@Rajk999
If I have a balnced budget I havce allocated the money I need to service my debts. If I can't pay my debts my balance is not balanced.
@no1marauder saidMaybe you missed this “are likely ”
LMAO! You are pathetically gullible fool if you think this bailout a few weeks before the elections isn't meant to help Milei. Expecting anyone in the Trump administration to be honest is like searching for the Holy Grail.
Maybe you missed this in the OP:

@Mott-The-Hoople saidNope, but I'm not so gullible to think a politician begging for a handout a few weeks before an election is a coincidence.
