@Metal-Brain saidIt is on the US based news media as I said you ignoramus.
Good for you.
That is not the case in the USA. Nobody is talking about it.
Don't tell me what the corporate news media is reporting in the USA.
You don't live here!

@Metal-Brain saidWhile the victim has been the subject of a number of stories, murders in the US are generally only local stories - we average over 50 a day.

So it's not surprising that the death of an average man is getting only a minute amount of coverage compared to Trump's grazed ear. You might as well complain the other 49 or so Americans murdered that day aren't getting national news coverage.
@no1marauder saidIt should be news that 50 fvcking people are being murdered each day.

Sweet Jesus. That’s absurd!
Edit: in the Netherlands, in 2023, 128 people died a violent death.
18 million inhabitants. Living closer together that most people in the US.
Now… the US has 350 million inhabitants (I think… God only knows… ) so, 350 divided by 18 = 19.5 times the population.
So, we go 19.5 x 128 = 2500
The US is 50 x 365 (days) = 18.250
So, the murder rate in the US is 7.3 times that of the Netherlands.
Crazy!!!

In fact I had this conversation with FMF on Tuesday. I was weighing up what would be best for America; for him to have been killed or survived. I think it would have been worse, much much worse, had he been murdered. For several reasons including but not exclusively and not in any particular order:
- Trump would have become a martyr
- there would have been terrible widespread violence which wouldn’t go away in a few weeks
- the electoral process and wider political system would be so destabilised that it would be difficult to recover
- the outcome of the election probably wouldn’t change
- but if it did, then the message would be that murdering your political opponents is the route to change
