He did register as a Republican as soon as he was legally allowed to.
But it certainly does seem, based on the limited information we have, that this was not a politically motivated shooting.

Perhaps Trump was in the right place at the wrong time? The Crooks shooter was researching Biden, FBI director, the royal family etc so perhaps he just decided to have a pop at Trump because he landed on his lap?
