Under Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro’s predecessor, Hugo Chavez, the Venezuelan government seized assets from some American oil companies after the country nationalized oil fields in 2007.
That is exactly why the US (with the support of the UK) overthrew Iran by coup, because they nationalized the oil fields there. Look up Operation Ajax.
Egypt nationalized the Suez Canal and the UK, France and Israel went to war with Egypt. An unprovoked war.
Is nationalization a good reason to invade countries? Even if shareholders were paid for it?
@Metal-Brain saidYeah, nationalization of oil what, 50 fking years ago? He could go, I want all the oil stolen from us in Canada....

@sonhouse saidTrump does not even make any sense saying that. Chevron is still in Venezuela.

@Metal-Brain saidIf it wasn't for oil in Venezuela Trump would cozy up to Maduro just like he gave 20 BILLION to Argentina and calls Putin a GENIUS and has love letters from Kim Jong Un and most of his invites to the WH are dictators.

Trump and Hegseth are committing war crimes by murdering people he SAYS are drug runners, first saying they are running fentanyl destroying lives in the US then changed his tune, now it is cocaine and I would like him to explain how a small boat powered by outboard motors would be able to make the trip to the US over a thousand miles of open ocean which is impossible, those boats are not sea worthy, they have to stay within a hundred miles of shore at best and then there were the 2 murdered instead of abiding by international law to rescue them and the fact they refuse to allow the public to see those films is just further proof of the fact they KNOW they fked up and are refusing to admit it because they ARE war crimes and Hegseth and Trump BOTH could end up in the Hauge under arrest for war crimes. Even if in absentia like Putin.
@Metal-Brain saidNationalizaation requires the government taking the assets of the foreign corporation, to adequately compensate them for their assets. Chavez is a crook and so is Maduro as this was never done.

The US is right to move in there and take it back if they so desire. In 2001 the US should have done it at that time, but they were taken up with 9/11 and the Gulf War.
@Rajk999 saidSo Trump is working for Exxon/mobile?

Chevron is happy in Venezuela. Trump is leaving their shipments alone.
@Metal-Brain saidGovts have a duty to protect their citizens [incl corporations] operating in crooked foreign countries.

@Rajk999 saidLike they did in Nazi Germany even though those American companies aided the Nazi war machine? Admit it. Corporations run government. Some of those American Corps were traitors and our gov. protected them. Didn't bomb them.
