Secularism is like a diamond. Once it has a defect, its worth is halved.

Very true.

Should the conservatives in Turkey keep advancing, burying the legacy of Atataturk and wiping their behinds with the secular
foundations of the State, Europe is ready to tell them: Thanks, but no
thanks.

I hope.

I am curious why you use the term "conservatives" in reference to the jihadist faction? In the world I live in, it is the "leftists" who are fighting to prevent any kind of confrontation with them.

Isn't it more accurate to ask "should the leftist utopian fascists continue to destroy the legacy of Ataturk"?

Name me a single american "conservative" in favor of just leaving the fascists to take over the middle east. Compare that to Barracks Obomber's statement that he will surrender within six days!

You just read it or hear it and repeat it without thinking?

Left leaning political views tend to favour a separation of religion and politics. Recently in Turkey, more and more websites are being firewalled, China style, particularily ones which criticise religion. Even YouTube was firewalled for about a week before public outcry overturned the decision. Politicians with conservative agendas (Favoring traditional views and values; tending to oppose change. American Heritage Dictionary).
In the case of Turkey, this involves a regression to islamic tendencies in many domains.
Leftists (One who holds a left-wing viewpoint; someone who seeks radical social and economic change in the direction of greater equality. American Heritage New Dictionary of Cultural Literacy, Third Edition), otherwise known as "liberals" (#1 Not limited to or by established, traditional, orthodox, or authoritarian attitudes, views, or dogmas; free from bigotry.
#2 Favoring proposals for reform, open to new ideas for progress, and tolerant of the ideas and behavior of others; broad-minded. American Heritage Dictionary) tend to favour equality between religious and non-religious views in public life, gieven recent judicial decisions in Turkey, this is not the case. (for example, refusing anonymous trials despite a real threat to life in the case of an appeal... and I don't mean percieved, I mean people actually saying "if you appeal, I will kill you and your family" )
So I think the use of the term "conservative" is quite fitting in Turkeys case, whatever your personal views on the matter.

Grandpa, you said it correctly: in the world you live in.

The world (THANK HEAVEN) is bigger than the U.S. and knowledge and concepts go beyond San Francisco.

Read agryson above. And, most important:

Snap up! Travel! See the world! Learn another language! Read!

They are committing terror is what this euphamism says? Who wants to fight terrorism? Conservatives or Surrenderists?

I say that if Terrorists are defended by Leftists, that makes the terrorists "Leftists".

What do you think? Do you believe that the US should surrender to the terrorists in Iraq at this exact moment in time?

Are you a conservative? Do the terrorists think the US should surrender to them? That puts you and the terrorists in an identity crisis. They are YOU. You are THEM.

LOL

This rant from a peasant (gay wrestler) priest who's longest journey in life was to rape a nun and then again nine months later to help bury the baby when it was born!

And that nunnery was what? Five whole miles up the road? Twice as far as your outhouses?

Yes, pops, in your world there are 2 things certain:

(a) Profiles in a chess website tell the truth.

(b) Insulting is the best way to debate.

Good job, sir! You give the U.S. a good name!

P.S. Seriously: Travel.

I reject the very premis of your argument. You do not have to be a conservative to want to fight terrorists. Show me one liberal that defends terror.

Travel. Ok. I have spent two months traveling in China. I have spent almost a month in the dirt in a yurt in Mongolia. I have been to almost all of Europe. I have spent two different stints as a volunteer in Mali doing water projects. I have been to New Zealand and Australia. I have seen all but four states in the US.

I hate travel. It is boring.

How did you enjoy the next village on your way to rape that nun?

edit... ps. The best time I have ever had traveling was in Poland. That is the best country on earth for friendliness. I spent a week at Chopins Birth Village of Zelazowa Wola, doing the best I could to keep up with the locals. I failed miserably, but made several friends whom I will cherish forever, though two of them died several years ago now. I learned the meaning of "a guest in the house means God is in the house", though I didn't feel like god when I awakened!

Only one? Barracks Obomber. He has promised that he will surrender in the first six days in office. Do you doubt him? Or do you think that the terrorists in Iraq are just insecure?

ALL of the friggin left are supporting terrorists by their silly heads-in-the-sand refusal to call terrorists what they are. They are terrorists.

To pussy-foot around calling them "insurgents" is to give aid and comfort.
