I was just thinking what with all the conservatives bleating about the evil of spending oneself out of a crises, is the biggest fear that it will all turn into one giant ponzi scheme and the new icon of US character should change hands from Uncle Sam to Bernie Madoff?

Because I get more bang for my buck on this forum by focusing on the US and that they probably are singly the most profligate in their excess compared with other nations

given that most of europe keeps getting referenced as being nanny states that provides a cradle to grave service to their citizens one would think that the costs associated with providing these social services prevent the governments from being as excessive with their spending, given that they dont have the US's advantage of being the world's current imperial power.

Being "the world's current imperial power" (whatever exactly that means) is no advantage when it comes to costs or spending ability. It might even be a hindrance.
