Wow you make it sound like US military technology has been developed by everyone but the US.
Typical Duchess.

I don't know that that's entirely fair, there's an episode of the Simpsons where they visit a US Airforce Base and Side Show Bob steals an atomic weapon (but it's a 1950's one and past it's sell buy date, but he couldn't resist the retro-look) to get them to ban television. They have an air display and the announcer says: "Pride of the US Marine Corps, the British Harrier Jump Jet." (from memory), which joke wouldn't have any resonance if they weren't conscious of it.

An actual complete warship is pretty major, most countries don't like doing that just for the employment implications.

Am I right in thinking that this is the class of ship that was initially being jointly developed with Britain. Development was split because Britain wanted an anti-aircraft destroyer and so produced the Type 45, whereas the Italians and French wanted a more balanced warship.

We outsource to China for uniforms.

Seems to me that having China make our stuff has really bitten us in the buttocks.

I'm wondering why the US military is ordering more warships in the 1st place. I think we already have enough.

I imagine that they're probably decommisioning some old ones, or selling them to North Korea or something.

The US made Oliver Hazard Perry and the controversial LCS frigates need replacement I guess. It says something that US designed ships are being replaced with a southern European design. The theme of US manufacturing being outsourced has been around for a while and is getting worse.
