[b]It seems that anything Obama wants he gets.
this is worthy of a flaming tomato award for "overstatement of the year".
I will conceed, he wanted a total government takeover of health care but settled on Obamacare because he did not have the votes. Other than that, it seems he has gotten his way.
Actually this is more of a compliment than anything. I can't think of any president in modern times who has gotten his way and accomplished more than the current president. It seems as though the mountains move at his command.

The defenders of the status quo in Congress have continually contributed to the preservation of the sluggish pace at which legislation gets passed, and still there are many reforms which are yet to see the light of the day, such as reform of the immigration system.

Actual ...[text shortened]... plished more than the current president. It seems as though the mountains move at his command.
Obama had a hard time persuading republicans about the necessity of the stimulus package, and ultimately they remained obstinate as usual, for example.
and now republicans once again seem to be fulfilling their role as the truculent detractors of the administration, nitpicking and insisting on their trivial pursuits. but yes, Obama has had some success, but they were hardly walkovers.
