Speaking of genocide, the Turks are not amused by the French making denial of the Armenian genocide a crime and so have broken off talks on a pipeline to provide natural gas to Europe.

The motivation? Because there are many Armenians living in France who are tired of the Holocaust getting all the air time.
Is this an ill-advised French attempt to gag free speech which pointlessly jeopardizes European energy resources? Or is it a brave and selfless action on the part of the French nation?

To me, it's a case of reminding the Turks of what they need to do if they want to enter the EU. Which is a lot more than they're doing right now.
European energy resources are unlikely to be jeopardised...especially France's...France runs on nuclear power. (Perhaps the nuclear lobby had a hand in the wording of the press release).
