The US economy shined in its latest report card, supporting calls that it has dodged a recession despite the most aggressive interest-rate hikes in a generation. Gross domestic product advanced in the third quarter by 5.2%, more than most economists’ estimates, buoyed by resilient consumer spending and robust business investment. Even so, price pressures still cooled, with underlying inflation rising at the slowest pace in more than two years.
Other data released showed stronger than expected orders for business equipment and fewer applications for unemployment benefits. Combined, the GDP figures bolster the case that the Federal Reserve (on Joe Biden's watch) has tamed inflation without putting millions of people out of work.
With its financial markets at record highs and stronger than expected GDP America stands in stark contrast to China’s stuttering post-pandemic recovery, which poses one of the main risks to global growth.

@mchill saidIt depends how you define a recession. People are hurting financially and retail theft is bad. When people start reaching their credit card limit you may get that official recession. Spending will slow down. Crime will rise more and you just might get your car stolen from you.

@suzianne saidI will vote for him if has the best plan for prosperity and getting rich, among other policies. But the ‘other policies’ will likely weigh heavily on my decision, such as freely inviting/admitting unknowns without passports into our country. So, I would have to vote against riches and prosperity, in favor of maintaining freedom and independence. I will have to prosper on my own!! But I love a challenge, it sure worked this time.

Inflation now under 4 %, employment up some 20,000 more than they projected, Yeah, the US is going UP in wealth and OF COURSE it has NOTHING to do with the inflation reduction act or anything else Biden did BECAUSE he is a democrat.

Getting the price of insulin down from HUNDREDS of dollars to 35 bucks also means NOTHING to you because he is a democrat.
