Lets discuss the following theses.
* To say something which is not true is an error if the these is wrong but the speaker is not aware of the fact.
* To say something which is not true is a hypothesis if it is formulated to make an argument.
* To say something that is not true, while knowing it claiming truth with the intend to deceive the opponent is a lie.
* To say something that is not completely true to make the other understand or to avoid cumbersome long explanations is simplification or making a model. This is completely valid in several crcumstances.
* To leave out important aspects of a stated fact with the intention of misleading is a lie by omission.
@ponderable saidGood breakdown of various types of lies. All are ok and accepted except #3

@ponderable saidThere must be an intent to deceive.

If I tell my 90 year old grandmother that her hair is beautiful , is that a lie? Do I intend to deceive her? Or to make her smile and feel good about herself?
@mott-the-hoople saidThis may be the best response ever for Mott! Lord, a lib will wet his bed tonite!! "Why don't the conservatives understand!?!?!??"
a man claiming he is a woman
@mott-the-hoople saidOh - You mean like GOP candidate Bruce (Catlin) Jenner?? 😏
a man claiming he is a woman
@mchill saidThat is the point of thia thread, lies. Bruce Jenner is lying, why state the obvious.

Biden clearly lied when campaigning. How do I know? (All of our comments here should be proven, don't you think?) So,I know because he voted for open borders in 2006. Google it for your amazement.
Biden is FOR open borders. Today, he is FOR open borders, He is spending $2B to stop the wall. It is the news today. $2B. Man, do yall make us repubs mad. I could scream. Your president lies.
Biden lied. A great example of a lie as discussed herein. He 'intended to deceive" me into voting for him!!!!! ( I didn't )
@ponderable saidYes, let's discuss it. In another thread you said this right after I provided iron clad evidence that was I was saying is 100% true:
Lets discuss the following theses.
* To say something which is not true is an error if the these is wrong but the speaker is not aware of the fact.

"You, sir, are the under the top ten of most bltanat lyers I ever encountered.
And this statement alone is philosophically not justifiable. And the emasure you put on other about "lying" should prevent you anayway from such a statement. To be consistent with measures you put foward you would be only able to speak in subjunctive mood."
Why did you call me a liar right after I proved what I was saying was fact?

This is a good example of a lie IF AJ isn't completely ignorant. In fact, Biden voted for the Secure Fence Act in 2006 which, among other things, " authorized about 700 miles of fencing along certain stretches of land between the border of the United States and Mexico.
The act also authorized the use of more vehicle barriers, checkpoints and lighting to curb illegal immigration, and the use of advanced technology such as satellites and unmanned aerial vehicles. "

Sure doesn't sound like "open borders".
@no1marauder saidThink so? The bottom of this clip says it is a "half truth", so if I am wrong, so are you. He said it was a vote about drugs, not immigration. I aint gonna paraphrase it.https://www.politifact.com/factchecks/2021/jan/26/facebook-posts/biden-did-back-long-border-fence-2006-comparison-2/

In any event, all dems want those people to get in by 2022 to vote, y'all are just untethered maniacs. And Biden does indeed want that to happen. Hey readers, today Biden is spending $2B, wasting your tax dollars, to STOP BUILDING THE WALL!! What more proof do you and Marauder need?????

You even said "Google it".
Well I did and it turns out he didn't vote for "open borders".
Getting rid of Trump's stupid wall (which Mexico never cut us a check for) is good policy that has nothing to do with "open borders". Sane leaders don't build walls around their countries in the 21st Century.

You can lie to make people feel good and lie to make people feel bad. Or even lie just to get out of stuff. If it's deliberately manipulating the truth it is a lie.
And that doesn't mean all lies are bad.
