All we need now is a Cheese/Spam forum, where posts like 'the longest thread in RHP history' get sent. I don't think spam should be censored outright, but this might reduce the clutter on the other forums and give people space to post randomly without fear of reprisal. Oh, and a Jokes forum would be nice.

Maybe the moderators can help. They often move controversial posts from General to this forum, maybe they should move some of the wimpy debates to the General forum... Like this one! 😉

Religion, politics, and philosophy are the best subjects for debate. If you don't want to debate religion, go to the Chess Only forum. The debate on chocolate vs. caramel was also very controversial! 😉
What's really interesting is finding threads with only one or two posts in the Debates forum to see why they died.
ivanhoe is right. If you want to get things going, pick a good subject and start a new thread. How about "toe jam vs. ear wax, which is better on toast".

ps your idea of sending some of the threads back for not being controversial enough is funny, but also probably good.

My original suggestion when 'debates' was created was that no one could start a thread in the debates forum, that only threads that became heated could be moved into it. But did anyone listen...? 😛
