Half of the places on your list have a population of zero what were you smoking ?
That’s beside the point, but I’m not suggesting individual states. Group the Pacific islands, etc.

When I was a kid, I remember seeing a news story about 9 counties in Western Kansas that wanted to secede from the state. They also said that if they couldn't secede from the state, they would secede from the Union. We had a good laugh about that and whether corn growing would now become an Olympic sport. There have apparently been many state secessionist movements. In NY, for example, as No1 must be aware, the City and upstate often whine about having to be part of the same state as the other. There's also the famous clause that gives Texas a right to subdivide if it likes. Some of these things would result in benefits to each party, of course.

The point is, there are lots of reasons for adjusting the configuration of the United States. But when Democrats threaten to do it purely as a means to manipulate control of the Senate, THAT is a radical idea.

so in other words you would deny fellow americans representation in congress because they might vote for people you don't agree with? Ever wonder why they aren't voting for your "republican values"?

Puerto Rico has more US citizens than 15 or so other states yet is not a state. How is Arkansas more deserving of statehood than Puerto Rico? How are any of the Dakotas?

If you can't find a better reason to prevent Puerto Rico to gain statehood than "it won't vote for my guys" I suggest you find a safe space to crawl in and have a nice chat with your feelings.

It doesn't matter who benefits in the short term. This injustice has been going on for many years and crosses many administrations.

US citizens must be represented in all levels of their government - regardless of where they live.

As for subdividing states, that's one of those ideas where one has to think about carefully. Some people who live there might not want a "new" state. Can a majority force them into a state they don't want? What rights does a minority have to block secession? Also - what is the disincentive to secession - are there any limits? Because if anything goes, eventually a guy with 0.5 acres in suburbia will secede and declare a new state - with he and his wife as Senators.
