So long as they're fighting each other, I wish them both Godspeed.

Sounds like he's getting desperate for help to remain in power.
Yeah, it's al quaeda! Hey US... wink wink... you wouldn't want al quaida to get a stronghold in my country... prop me up as a dictator and everything will be ok!

I mean, the only person who's positing Al Qaeda involvement is Gaddafi himself! Do you actually trust the assertions of the man who ordered the Lockerbie Bombing?

Of course not. I wouldn't believe him if he said it were sunny in the desert.
But it is amusing to watch these two arch-murderers go after each other.

Not that I believe him, but Gaddaffy Duck might be saying it because the USA puppet government official is doing it.
Wasn't Gadaffy Duck saying that the USA was behind the protesters a short while ago?

Assuming you're speaking from a position of complete ignorance rather than -- other possibilities -- please go read up on what's happening (Al Jazeera English is the best source; otherwise the Guardian has some reasonable pieces; Robert Fisk has written some decent articles in the Independent) and apologise.

This sub-sub issue has nothing to do with the larger issue of what's "happening" in Libya; nor was I making any sort of judgment or analysis in that regard.
So you can all come down off your high horses now; but try not to hurt yourselves on the dismount.
Originally posted by sh76It is actually quite witty of Gaddafi to say that.

I mean, here in the West we've been blaming every war in every corner of the planet on the old geezer and his kidney dialysis machine for a decade.
In fact, him bringing it up is the funniest thing he's said in a long time.
Originally posted by sh76Mmm, it's all well and good making light of your uncharacteristically Sam The Sham/whodey-esque OP, but by framing it as "Gaddafi vs. Bin Laden", as Gaddafi himself does, you seem to be endorsing his reality-contorting smear job on the man-and-woman-in-the-street opposition is facing. Then you ask: who do we root for? when you seem to be implying that you are rooting for Gaddafi? If not, why are you playing along with the attempted disparaging of those who want to see his overthrow?
