Can I get your autograph? It is not for me, it is for a friend!

Please sign it, "Dear T-Vose, man... you are really cool. Good talking with you, I'll catch you at the party after the show".

Thanx... that would mean a lot to me.... I mean him!

I've got to say this, however much it might upset some people.

I've looked at a couple of threads and I think Feivel has every right to complain. And I'm a Christian.

To say that no-one is being forced to read Bible study threads is subtly misleading, because anyone entering a forum is presented with the thread titles. Having a thread titled "Bible study week 1" was pretty surprising to ME, let alone a non-believer. And that was in the General Forum!

Okay, I know why it moved there, but that raises the central question - is there an appropriate place for this stuff on RHP? I'd suggest that there isn't. It's one thing to offer people links or verses as part of a debate on a topic, giving them a chance to look at the Bible if they want to. It's quite another to make that the sole subject of a thread.

And who are we doing it for? The Christians here probably have Bible study material from elsewhere. The non-Christians will be unlikely to look at it unless they were asking questions/having a debate in the first place (see preceding paragraph).

RB, I'm all for you getting out there on RHP and evangelising - along with all the other Christians. I'm just very unsure about this particular method.

Assuming I've understood why this thread was created (without knowing where the discussion originated)..

There's another game site with forums that I goto that has a political debates forum. After incessantly having religous debates invade the political debates forum (their forum format does not lend itself to mass OT discussions) the forum creator put his foot down.

Those intrested in discussing religion were asked to create their own forum just for religous debates so that politics could be discussed uninterrupted and religion could be debated without annoying the non-believers.

The intresting thing was that while the political debates thrived after this, there were hardly ever any posts made in the religous debates forum and it was eventually disbanded...

I've only been here a couple of weeks, but the ONLY political debate I can recall seeing so far is bush vs. kerry...Whereas there are tens of threads about religion. I do not accept that this is because the majority of people are far more intrested in religion than politics.

If the religous types on this site are willing and have "faith" that there is enough interest to sustain a seperate forum then they should get one.

However... having a "debates" forum, with no specified topic, is likely the only place where they will consistently get a reponse from "the other side". I have yet to meet anyone who was so anti-religion as to enter a religous debate forum and pick a fight...whereas there are many evangelical types (pointing no fingers...) who will pick religous fights in debate forums of any kind.

And yes, I appreciate there are other topics beside politics and religion to debate, however politics is usefull sample topic to demonstrate with considering the example I used.

I don't see good reasons to remove religious flavored debates from here or to make a segregation between politics and religion. Bot items are governed by questions around morality, ethics, the use of logic, the balance between thinking and feeling.

Some months ago politics was much more prominent. (They got often dulled by the pro and anti American sentiments) After that many threads were for a while centered on evolution vs. creation. At the moment religion gets a lot of attention.

At the other hand, I agree with many others that the debate forum should not become a podium for overt propaganda for religious or political systems and ideologies. I don't think it will.

I feel the problem is that once a religion thread is started, anyone who goes against the 'general ideas' offered becomes 'clever' and is told 'they are just stiring issues'.

What is the sense in a topic in the debates forums if we can't talk against it? If there is nothing to debate about a religious topic, why post it in the debates forums?
