Here are some helpful hints on how to embalm a dicatator.

Famous dictators of the past include Lenin, Kim Jong ll, Klement Gottwald, Ho Chi Minh, Mao Tsu Tung, and now Hugo Chavez.

So why do it? Consider what it must be like for these people. They are continually brainwashed into believing that these men are the one source of all wisdom, intellect, and compassion in the world today. Without them they would all be dying in the streets!!

It would be akin to a child losing its parent. Even if that parent had been abusive, they would still feel like an orphan. Having the body to look at then gives them some solace. In fact, I remember seeing clips of Kim Jong's funeral. People were on the verge of hysteria as they cried their eyes out. I remember thinking that this must be staged. How could anyone get this bent out of shape over a former dictator dying? Then it hit me, these people have lost their Daddy. Even if he may have been abusive, you still only have one.

Dictators are god like people for the people they rule. They are the government and the government derives it's power from the personality of the dictator. This is why you see pictures of dictators displayed in many places. Public domain is the dictator's temple at which people worship.

This is why you see pictures of Obama up in many areas with high population of low information voters. He is a god like figure for many people in the US, mostly because of his color, but also due to his theology of class warfare.

When god like people die, they do not wish to have their god figures gone, so they embalm them to preserve the body for people to admire and draw inspiration, just like any other religious icon.

Chavéz was elected and re-elected in what can be considered free and fair elections. Why criticize him for being a "dictator" (he wasn't) or because he is going to be embalmed (who cares?). Why not for his mishandling of the economy, the arbitrary nationalizations of industries, curbing of union rights, ad hoc monetary policy? Is it really that hard to try to elevate your analysis beyond tabloid headlines?

Are elections free and fair when you put your opponents in jail or force them to leave the country? Just wondering.

Don't think you answered my question, it is a simple yes or no.

I would say that communists embalm their leaders for the same reason that the Egyptians embalmed their Pharaohs.

Now if they could only build that triangular thingy.

I called in and took a look at Marcos, he looked ok, although a little plastic, there was some distasteful liquid discolouring around the sleeve wrists and not a hint of odour seeping from the glass encasement.
