i'm really tired of every debate becoming about God and faith, i don't mind having the discussion but for a non believer it can get qite frustrating when you make valid arguements only to run into people who because of theeir faith daily have to accept contradictions and therefore can believe in a double negative, which obviously for those of us with no faith we believe in deductive reasoning.

all thought about sex is sinful, and sex not for procreation is sinful, yet our bodies reward us when we have sex in order to make the experience pleasurable, the natural instinct and desire to procreate is the same instinct that drives all other animals to procreate, it is a natural drive of the body.
why would God do this, was he just messing with people?
the ambiguities in the scriptures, (this has caused wars!)
the acceptance of slavery in the bible, (can we all agree that was a bad idea?)
the fact that the Pope can renounce the use of condoms even though they would save the lives of countless thousands of people, (not an especially forgiving standpoint is it? these people are going to do it and they don't understand the risk they are putting themselve in, would the humane thing to do be to warn or protect them?)
that the church has been wrong in the past yet still refuses to learn from the mistakes of the past and continues blindly and with an awe inspiring amount of arrogance to preach to the rest of us!
remeber the church killed pepole for saying the world was round / then not in the centre of the solar system / then not in the centre of the universe.
my question is why are they still taken seriously?
you make the mistake of church v god the church is ruled by persons. who in there ignorance defend as they see things, but god lets out the truth by exposing them, there is many examples of this before christ and after, sadly this is true, but when the day comes as it will there punishment is already set, so do not say you are better because you will be exposed in time but simply say we have learnt and belive in the living true god.
sorry but Catholics believe that the Pope is Gods representative on Earth therefore by your arguement all Catholics are wrong simply because the Pope is just a man?
any denomination looks to its spiritual leaders in order to interperate how 'God'/ whatever says they should live. by your arguement the Bible is wrong (written by man) the Koran is wrong (written by man) any and all texta are wrong as are all teachings and beliefs as they are all derived by the teachings and writings of man.
you can't have it both ways.
i know what you say is true by roman catholic doctrine, the pope does represent god on earth but this is not my belief, it is taken from what you cast on earth is cast in heaven, but he is just a man who tries to interpret gods law for man of that i do belive. but the bible is the word of god written down for our learning, i do not hold the koran as gods law as im a christian, however when reading the bible you remember that its been translated thro hebrew, greek, latin, so just maybe someone with the best of intentions has altered slightly the text??? but the message has not been lost.

You watch an American football game where a player scores a "touchdown" and raises his arms to God for thanks as if he was "blessed" for this idiotic ability.
Watch any music award show where a rapper (who probably does some of the most reprehenisble acts known to man) wins an award and takes the time to "Praise God" when, in ten minutes. he will be back in his limo smoking crack and having consentual sex with a minor.
Yet all of the recent victims from the Tsunami were not "blessed". So many of these lives were shattered.
The true victims of the war in Iraq, the civilians. Who has "blessed" them?
Some people are actually moronic enough to believe there is some "checks and balances" system to all of this. If you are good, good things will happen. If bad stuff happens to you, even if you are good, it's due to God's will or faith. Have fun trying to swallow that one.

1. people think they know too much. we are so amazed that we can fly to the moon and have digital watches that we don't think too often that we evolved from some reptile into monkeys that play chess (i believe in christ, i also believe that evolution is perfectly acceptable in the christian doctrine. i also believe the "multiverse" theory, budhism, mayan religion, etc can all be compatable with christianity if we are able to open our minds enough to see beyond our noses)
2. it worries me when christians say stuff like "oh yeah when christ returns he will kick your non believing ass" that is presumptuous and frankly no human has any idea of who is worthy of salvation. i believe that a "good" pagan who worships god as god wants (ya know, by being virtuous) can get into heaven, while the biggest preacher converting heathens in wherever can rot for all eternity for not living up to the standards he preaches
3. i also get worried that athiests, etc. are all like "throw away christ and you will advance. i think if you truly follow christ with prayer, meditation, fasting, giving alms, and righteousness you will advance or spiritually evolve or whatever. all those popes that brought on the crusades yelling death to the infidels are not righteous. that is like saying all liberals are dope smoking freaks and all republicans are gun owning fascists, it is just not right you must judge (if you do jusge people, it is not always a good thing to do) each person on their own merits.

My local mall has a store that is not quite a porn shop; in fact, they sell no actual pornographic magazines. Most of what they sell is sexual in nature, such as the button, "I'm about to have sex, care to join me?" that I saw a sixteen yo boy purchase on X-mas eve.
One exception to the sexually oriented nature of the goods in the shop is the T-shirt that proclaims, "Jesus is my homeboy." That one mystifies me.

HE told mankind to multiply,the only way to do that is by having sex.What HE wanted was for each man and women to have their own husband or wife.Man and women were not created to hop from bed to bed with multiple partners.Only those that have decided to be disobedient to what sex was created for,sure they want to use ways that prevent pregnacies.There is plenty of resourses to take care of all mankind(food, water,and shelter).
