The post that was quoted here has been removedForeign conflicts tend to raise the popularity of leaders in the short term as people rally around the flag. Papa Bush had an 89% approval rating during the first Gulf War and Junior Bush had a 92% approval rating shortly after 9/11.
These bounces are ephemeral as the conflict wears on and people start to question its wisdom.
