Note that the reporters sat on their knowledge, to time it to make more money, all the while KNOWING that Miley’s treason was occurring prior to Afghanistan debacle. America deserved to know this. It cost us to not know it.
The general is a dead man walking, or, OR, if the book is lies, he will have one hell of a case against WAPO.

There will be strong arguments on both sides.
One side will be the rule of law.
The other side will deal with the extenuating circumstances that might lead to desperate measures that will cross the line.
There was a serious fear that Trump was going to start a war on his way out the door of the White House.
As if sabotaging the Afghanistan policy for the incoming administration wasn't enough.
It is clear that Trump was really trying to put the screws to his successor on all fronts.

I'm sure the talks of treason on the part of Milley will gear up.
But then again, Von Stauffenburg was executed for treason for trying to kill Hitler in WW2.

In fact there are procedure, especially fro drastic measures. I think that Milley made sure he didn't overstep his authority.
In the end it would be for judges to rule if someone brought an indictment.

That would be an unknown in court though, if there were a string of Trumpite judges, SCOTUS already IS Trumpite......

I don't know. Maybe you could just read the book, it comes out in a week or so.
The gist is we came VERY close to nuclear war with China. Saved by General Milley,
talking with top commanders on a secret line to convince them we were not that crazy to attack right now. The Chinese VERY clearly thought Trump was crazy as a bedbug and therefore unfit to lead a major world power.
The war never happened but Milley convinced ALL the folks around him in command positions to come to him IMMEDIATELY for any such orders floating around, which was not really his authority and there may yet be repercussions for that brave act.

Two journalist wrote a book about the end of the Trump Era.

One factoid that made it on page 1 in Cnn (and probably other media outlets) was that the chief of Staff ordered his subordiantes not to execute rush decisions without his knowledge. Some clown claimed that the general would be a "dead man" if that was true.

Since Trump is no longer in charge, it is up to a REAL AG to make that call which I doubt very seriously.

Garland is independent from POTUS and made that very clear in a letter to the WH.

That puts him about a dozen steps ahead of that cretin Barr, CLEARLY Trump's personal lawyer.

Not so now.
