Here's some stuff that actually adds to the discussion:
In Cuba, the second-most-spoken language after Spanish is Haitian Creole because more than 300,000 Cubans are of Haitian origin/ancestry.
Haiti has the worst health care, the worst child mortality, and lowest life expectancy in Latin America.
Cuba has the best health care system in Latin America, and is #1 or #2 in most health indicators (life expectancy, infant mortality, etc.), along with semi-socialist Costa Rica.
The USA has invaded or militarily intervened in Haiti more than 30 times since the Haitian Revolution in 1791.
As early as George Washington's administration, the USA sent aid to Haitian slaveowners to help them suppress slave uprisings.
As recently as 2004 the US staged a right-wing coup d'etat to overthrow popularly elected leftist president Aristide, plunging the country into chaos and violence.
Cuba has not been invaded by the USA since the 1962 Cuban Missile Crisis when the US was forced to promise not to attempt to invade Cuba again, so Cuba has seen over 40 years of peace and high average living standards (compared to Latin America).
Do you see why, now, some Haitians might want to flee US violence in Haiti to seek a better life in Cuba? If you doubt any of the above, please do some homework and show me where I went wrong.
