I could post hundreds of links
No, you couldn't, otherwise you and your conservative buddies would be spamming this forum with such links. And you know that.

Posting a single guy accused of one (horrendous) crime after living in the U.S. for at least 9 years is not evidence of anything.

You are such a cool guy, Vivify. I want to introduce you to my friends. (Not).
Go for it, defending the illegal aliens who are ruining our country and our children. Creep? What else?

That would've been a scorching come-back if it was still 1981.

I didn't defend the criminal, your reading comprehension just sucks. I was pointing out the flaw in using one isolated incident as evidence of a larger societal problem.

Give it up, you lose another one. Uhhh, no comment about the cretin on the little girl? I will spare my comment about you. You people are liberal in every sense of the word.

Does Rutte have the authority to unilaterally withdraw his entire party or was the VVD simply in agreement with him to do so?
I would presume that Rutte had his party’s backing to step out of the coalition.

I don’t think he has the power to single handedly bring the whole thing down.

...there you are. Hey jump over to the socialist thread where Zhalanzi is trying to convince us that Romania has every opportunity and every bit of freedom as does the USA.
I covered him with a link pointing out that they do not, and a colorful analogy about a guy who works harder than others, but is not allowed to make any more money than the losers around him.

It will remind you of my standard mantra, 'some people work harder than others'. They do, but there is no worse country than a socialist one who spreads the production around equally. I would commmit zuicide in such a country.

Heyl, why have you never said that it is not fair to give the same amount of production to every person, no matter who makes it?

In the Netherlands, the female leader of D66 (mainstream liberal party) has resigned and is stepping out of politics.

She was constantly hounded by the extreme-right, people burning torches at her front door, a whole hate campaign on twitter and social media.
The extreme right really went after her.

And she decided it was bad for her family and is getting out of politics.

Why did the extreme-right target her specifically? I’m not really sure. But, there is a tendency (in the Netherlands) for the extreme-right to target female politicians and females in positions of power.

Anti-Jewish slogans getting beamed on to bridges and buildings, anti-women, anti-lgbt, anti-immigration, anti-vaccinations… it’s a trend.

The specialised police forces have put extreme-right radicalism to the top of their priorities. Where, 5 years ago, that spot was reserved for jihadists and moslim extremists.

Small, very vocal, extreme right-wing, youngish men, spreading hate, fear, incel-like propaganda and conspiracy theories.

It’s quite worrying. And it’s not only in the Netherlands that this is happening.

That's insane.

A while back I started a thread about Europe becoming more right-wing, which has only continued since:

I don’t think Europe is actually becoming more right-wing. At least, not in actual numbers.

We’ve always had a reasonably large group of extreme right. But, for decades, after WW2 (a wee but of a historic bashing, humiliation and probably shame to some extent) they kept their heads down.

Extreme right parties were persona non grata, so the extremist joined main stream capitalist parties. Becoming, from the 70’s onwards, ever more vocal.
So parties like the VVD (in the Netherlands) and the English tory party had an element of anti-immigration, anti-refugee, etc. added to their capitalist agendas.

After 911 and the rhetoric which followed, the extremists became more sure of themselves and extremist parties started growing. Basically, folk leaving the mainstream parties and building their own.

Not much of a problem at that point, because they’re really a minority. Then trump came along and suddenly the rhetoric has taken another swing into the absurd. Mainstream media, conspiracy theories (too crazy to comprehend), sexism and racism suddenly are no longer very fringe opinions.
And this has hooked on to extreme-right parties and their viewpoints.

So, a group of young white men, who normally wouldn’t have bothered voting (but are extremely right-wing) have started voting. For these extremist parties. This gives these parties the boost in the polls we’re seeing.

It’s a thin win for them though. Look at Forum for Democracy (Thierry Boudait’s party). Extreme-right wing, conspiracy driven, etc. Their leader started talking the real conspiracy stuff… anti-Jewish, anti-Moslim… all BS, but acceptable to the extreme right hordes… then he started on about the lizard aliens being in charge of the planet… now, this would have probably been acceptable to these people behind closed doors, but the mockery of him and this view point by literally everyone, even kids, in public, made them blink their eyes to reality.
And they stopped voting for his party. Not because they don’t believe lizard aliens are behind it all, but the mockery got to them.

So, now they’ve turned to vote for this farmer’s party. Which sounds like it wants better deals for farmers, but is basically an extreme right front. Drawing in the same crowd of conspiracy believing whackos.

The link I posted was about right-wingers continually gaining political power across Europe, not necessarily a numerical increase. Some recent examples include Georgia Meloni or The Finns gaining more seats in Finland than the Social Democrats.

Here's one headline from two months ago:

https://www.france24.com/en/live-news/20230405-le-pen-would-beat-macron-if-french-presidential-vote-repeated-poll

Le Pen would beat Macron if French presidential vote repeated: poll

I could post more examples like the Greece Spartans (Christ, like naming yourself the Dublin Leprechauns) but you get the point.

As you mentioned, right-wingers are emboldened as their leaders become more outspoken but I think there's another issue: right-wingers tend to be favored by the rich because their policies favor the wealthy over common people. In most societies wealthy people are the ones with power and influence; they also tend to fight for right-wingers.
