As one (Republican) member of the House allegedly quipped,

"Yes, we wanted him out of the House. But that's not what we meant."

In general, I've been happy with most of the picks so far, but this is a bizarre one.

I guess Trump sympathizes with people who need high federal positions to stay out of prison.

Edit: I do not think he will be confirmed. I hope Trump knows how to read the tea leaves and withdraws the nomination before it becomes a pitched battle.

I think the main reason for nominating him was to take attention away from Hegseth and Gabbard.

Misdirection.

HATE? More like overflowing volumes of DISGUST.
Do you seriously think a dude 110% Trump loyalist should be AG which is supposed to be totally independent of POTUS?
How independent do you think DOJ would be with Gaetz at the helm?
That appointment is 100% in Trump's agenda to be the top dog of ALL government branches so he can succeed in his bloodless coup he failed at on 9-11.

If he does the job right, why do you care? 😆

Not a Star Wars fan? 😆

Emperor: "Good! Use your aggressive feelings, boy. Let the hate flow through you!"

I think Gaetz is his one nominee for a post that requires Senate confirmation who will have a lot of problems getting even 50 Republican votes.

Should be interesting. Every Repub voting no is going to take a lot of flack from the base. It's not like Trump lacks a mandate. Maybe Thune will decide to duck all that by allowing recess appointments.

Collins and Murkowski have bucked Trump before and survived. There's other Republicans who may not relish voting for someone who hangs out with sex traffickers.

There always seems to be one pick the President can't quite get through and that applies even to those who got elected with bigger "mandates" than a 1.5 to 2% margin in the popular vote.

Do you think the Republican Senate will dutifully fall in line with his proposals for across the board 10 to 20% tariffs because of his "mandate"?

I don't know what they'll do. I just know there is a large contingent of the GOP looking for radical change at some of these agencies and if the same old squishes want to stand in the way again I hope they are made very uncomfortable.

Don't know what you're bitching about. A piece of trash who looks like a grown-up Eddie Munster fresh out of rehab and accused of statutory rape is absolutely perfect for Trump's cabinet. The luminaries of the Third Reich were also, almost to a man, a crop of monstrous degenerates, too.
