Microsoft have decided to release the patch for the gaping hole that can be used to exploit the vulnerability of image files on Windows XP and Windows 2000 computers.
In classic Microsoft 'All your base are belong to us' style, there is no patch for Windows 98, Windows 98 SE, and Windows ME because for these versions of Windows, Microsoft will only release security updates for critical security issues. Or something.

If you have your computer set for automatic Windows Updates it will do it for you.

PS - been running '02 XP Pro with no service packs, no patch's and none of their "security" upgrades. Runs sweet and I'm networked. Go figure.
Originally posted by skeeterIn the past this could've been partly true but now anyone using Windows [which is the majority still] who does not get the critical updates [ie, patches] is taking unnecessary risks.
