I agree, the hotter a liquid, the further apart the molecules vibrate and consequently the lighter any selected volume of water is. The colder it is, the closer the molecules are and consequently the heavier that volume of water is. I can make no assessment of the 4 degress thing I'm afraid, I don't see why that should be, but I don't yet refute it. Anyone?

Originally posted by CorsairWater has a strong tendency to form a network of hydrogen bonds.(between the H and O atoms). As temp gets lower the H bonding gets stronger. The structure of ice is completely H bonded. It forces the structure of ice to be open as compared to water. Hence density of ice decreases. Therefore a same volume of ice will weigh less than a same volume of water.

Originally posted by SiskinActually they can have as many as they like within reason. Brittle Stars and common stars generally exhibit 5, but those such as the Sunflower Star (found here http://www.seashells.org/identcatagories/starfish.htm) have 19 and the Basket Star (also found at that site) doesn't so much have 5 legs as a collection of tendril branches that make it look like it's taken too much acid during childhood. π
i take issue with no 65. ... starfish only have 5 legs
