Have you tried starting in safe mode and going to a restore point?

Nope. I'm pretty inept with these things.

I've googled the error code, and a full reinstall seems the only solution.

It's weird because 0xc01a001d means that your status log is full. Definitely a pain in the hole, as you say. I found a possible solution here: http://tinyurl.com/yhyq9uk

It's a bit complicated, so good luck.

My first suggestion, as a trained PC proctologist, would be to flush all of that nasty Vista out with an XP enema.

I thought that they were of the same genus, just different in appearance, ie they've moved everything so you can't find it.

Sorry for the idiot question (they're all i gots).....How do i reinstall vista? I cant use safe mode in any way, or get to a restore point.

The only screens i can get to are the setup screen, and the boot screen.....and i'm cacking myself to press the wrong thing.

To get into safe mode, keep hitting F8 on start up until it kicks in. Failing that, you will probably have one or more recovery disks. These can be used to to un**** your machine. Alternatively, if you have a Vista disc, then wap it in and follow on screen instructions. You will lose all of your data on your primary partition using this method though *gloom*
