The better half and I were out to pick up some snacks and things for sandwiches in case we lose our Power during the storm coming. I saw one man looked to be mid 40's or so with shorts and Sandals bare feet.
I saw a younger women early 20's with short, shorts on she had long legs in good shape but in -17 with wind chill weather? Perhaps they both come from Colder Climates. Yes I know I am old but not dead yet! 😉

@Very-Rusty saidI'm surprised you noticed. After all, you get temps of -40 this time of year, although you dress for it.

Good luck with the storm, Bill
@Earl-of-Trumps saidWell it was only -17, a rare -40 in the part I live in but has gotten that cold and colder. Keep in mind though we did grow up with the cold weather and four seasons, so are use to it. Still takes a little getting use to.

I can't imagine how people from Countries that never saw snow before, grown adults handle it. I have seen many not dressed for the weather. If you had seen those long legs in the short shorts, you wouldn't have missed it either. That is unusual in Weather -17. The middle age man was just trying to show how tough he was in my opinion. 😉
Luckily so far so good with the other thing I was talking about I don't even want to mention it, but I am still connected.

@Very-Rusty saidYou still able to get your morning coffee?

@Ghost-of-a-Duke said@Ghost,
You still able to get your morning coffee?
Unfortunately not this morning not dug out yet, it only stopped snowing a short time ago. I don't do any shoveling anymore as can't lift anymore than 20 lbs with my right arm that has the Fistula in it for doing the cannulations. I don't like depending on other people to do it, but have no choice in the matter. If the worst part is over we only got about 8 inches, very high winds last night. I was surprised to wake up this morning with everything working.

@Very-Rusty saidMaybe they both came from warmer climates and just had no idea?

Down here there was a case of a 19-year-old college student who left a frat party in freezing weather wearing only a T-shirt and jeans. He was later found dead with no foul play suspected.
If I may refer to Wikipedia, in Tibetan Buddhism there's a practice called "tummo" for generating internal heat which might help with thermogenesis in cold weather, although that is probably not its primary purpose.
