200 Years Average Age
"When the French Philosopher, Alexis de Tocqueville toured the United States right after the Civil War, He said 'Democracy will survive in the United States until politicians find they can buy the people's vote with the people's money', Interesting! About the time our original thirteen states adopted their new constitution in 1787, Alexander Tyler, a Scottish history professor at the University of Edinburgh , had this to say about the fall of the Athenian Republic some 2,000 years earlier: 'A democracy is always temporary in nature; it simply cannot exist as a permanent form of government.' 'A democracy will continue to exist up until the time that voters discover they can vote themselves generous gifts from the public treasury.' 'From that moment on, the majority always vote for the candidates who promise the most benefits from the public treasury, with the result that every democracy will finally collapse due to loose fiscal policy, which is always followed by a dictatorship.' 'The average age of the world's greatest civilizations from the beginning of history, has been about 200 years'.
'During those 200 years, those nations always progressed through the following sequence:
1. From bondage to spiritual faith;
2. From spiritual faith to great courage;
3. From courage to liberty;
4. From liberty to abundance;
5. From abundance to complacency;
6. From complacency to apathy;
7. From apathy to dependence;
8. From dependence back into bondage'

And yet, somehow, with recorded words and collective wisdom, we still cannot seem to grasp the lessons of history and manage to keep from repeating them.
If, however, we are speaking of the "american" democracy, it's important to bear in mind that we don't really have a democracy. We have a republic. Oh, how must stronger and more rational it would be if it were a meritocracy, rather than our recent reverse-meritocracy that we suffered for a number of years. Still, the economic theory is proving to be correct and marching ahead, right on schedule.

I will reiterate, as I did once before, if that's possible, that Thailand is the only country in the world that has never been occupied by another state or country, and is still a democracy, personified as being undemocratic by the exact democracies that fear the Eastern south.
I have better things to give than to this site, but just can't help having a laugh at the lack of improvement in your lives. I guessed 200 years average, as a forum thread title was going to be the discussion of the best age of Whisky you all drink, but them who am I, as a racist, alcoholic, wife beating, scum TSM, canting father of 246 kids, to make comment? ๐
