How do you count words? Meaning do one and two letter words count as a word? I believe in typing they are ignored as words.

I prefer the method whereby a word is a grouping of one or more letters, written singly or consecutively, on its own, or side by side without intervening spaces or punctuation. Call me old fashioned.
