Seemingly it's not just Ice Cold who thinks the world is ending in 2012!

But with a bit of closer inspection, I do have a few points to add to each threat to civilisation...
The Mayan calender:
"Given that they were pretty close to the mark with the lunar cycle, it's likely they've got the end of the world right as well"
I think that says enough. Because Einstein was pretty close to the mark on relativity, it means he was probably pretty good at relationship therapy as well...
Sigh.
And if the bloody Mayans were so bloody clever, how come they didn't predict their bloody extinction?
Sun storms
It's in the middle of a period of stability... IN THE MIDDLE... but it's gonna flare up in 2012... yeah. Not exactly the middle of a period then, is it? And if they can't work that out, then there's no bloody chance they can work out 2012 either.
CERN
Yeah... however the chances of a black hole appearing are actually 0.001% and the chances of that black hole actually lasting more than a millisecond are 0.000001%. So the actual chances of CERN destroying us are... uh... pretty small indeed. And anyways, CERN kicks off in July 2008...
The bible says...
I've read the bible... I didn't see the date 2012 anywhere! I read a lot of mumble jumble about men made from mud and women from ribs though...
Yellowstone park
Actually. I like this one. It's 60.000 years over due and ready vaporise Yogi bear.
However, most predictions I've read about it suggest only the US and central America is destroyed by it (and the rest of us have to wear warmer clothing for a year or two). The Mayans didn't know the existence of other continents, so from their point of view this would be the end of the world!
Bad luck America.
However, the Mayans didn't even invent a wheel...
The physisists
A motley gang of fear mongering sadists if ever there was...
99% certainty that the Earth is overdue for a major catastrophy...
Yeah... who'd a thunk it?
The poles shifting
I first thought this was about immigrants coming to Holland to work. I was wondering how many it would take to slant the world. But it's not about that at all!
Oh well...

Aren't we all supossed to die in 2012 😲 ? ?
"We dance around in a ring and suppose.
The circle sits in the middle and knows."
Forget giving in to 2012 (or any other horizontally prognosticated doom and gloom speculations). Only the Almighty (ponder the vertical construct) knows the end from the beginning and the timing of eschatological dispensational events.
We need him. He doesn't need us. As creatures, let's be honest, about the best we can do is predict tomorrow's weather with 50% accuracy and see ahead a handful of moves on a 2-dimensional chessboard. Arrogance & assininity personified to imagine otherwise.

Zoron: Space Odyssey 2050 by Jerry Dwyer
"Zoron" is a space odyssey set in the year 2050 when Earth ships, powered by new engines, are patrolling other star systems. Humanity's great dream is being fulfilled and cosmonauts are heroes. The pressure is on to find a habitable planet but initial searches are disappointing. Spacefleet commander Admiral Chris Adams arrives home to Woodbridge Suffolk after a routine trip to the Alpha Centauri system. He looks forward to a quiet holiday with his fiance but is to be disappointed! Destructive natural events start happening with unbelievable frequency and Earth is in turmoil. Humans have no defence against the huge and destructive forces of nature that have been unleashed. Admiral Chris is sent to find out if the cause can to be seen from outer space, but he gets lost!...and so the odyssey begins. Zoron is a drama played out by the principal characters and is a coherent story. There are surprises along the way. The Hi-Craft is the Earth spaceship that makes interstellar journeys possible, and its design is not just a prediction, it is inevitable because rocket engines are obsolete and going nowhere.
At least another 38 years to go after 2012 😛
