I didn't actually write them. ... ChatGPT did.
I logged on to chatGPT, explained I was on a chess forum that was running a story competition and asked it for some suggestions with the various themes.
It was frighteningly normal in the responses it gave to the set-up and then pretty quick in delivering finished prose. I'm pretty sure this thing easily passes the Turing test - i.e. can't be differentiated from a human response (except the speed with which it churns stuff out).

I see a photography competition "winner" recently turned down his prize as his submitted image had been AI generated.
I'm sad I didn't actually write my own, so well done to everyone who did.
