    he did so much for US chess until he became champion
    and then did nothing
    maybe not his fault

    I was working in Thailand ATT and played over all the games, some on the short puddle jumper flight from NKP to Bangkok.

    Tortured genius exerts a morbid fascination on people. Probably no one found Smyslov fascinating as a human, though many of his games sparkle.
